Checking a guide before you use it
For a duplicate bill, match the company printed on your statement to its entry in our electricity company directory. If you are following a worked calculation, check the billing period, customer category, units and rate in the example before comparing it with your own figures. A worked example explains the calculation. Your electricity supplier issues the bill for your account.

If a portal has moved, tell us which link you followed and which company you were trying to reach. For a figure or billing term, quote the sentence and include the date of the supplier’s notice if you have it. If you spotted two guides that give different answers, send both page addresses and point out where they disagree. Use our contact page to send your note without sharing your account number or an image of your bill. Our editorial guidelines explain how sources and examples should be presented.
