An Easypaisa electricity bill payment takes about a minute once you know the drill. Open the app, tap Bill Payment → Electricity, pick your distribution company, type your 14-digit reference number, check that the amount on screen matches your bill, and confirm with your PIN. It works for all ten WAPDA distribution companies and for K-Electric in Karachi. No app on your phone? An Easypaisa shop will do the same over the counter for cash, and on a basic phone you can dial the USSD menu.
The one habit worth keeping: save the confirmation SMS. The transaction ID inside it is your proof if the bill still shows “unpaid” for a day, and that single detail settles almost every dispute. This guide walks through each payment route, the charges you should actually expect, your daily limits, and the exact fix when a payment doesn’t reflect.
Which DISCOs you can pay on Easypaisa
Every electricity distribution company in Pakistan is a supported biller on Easypaisa. That includes the ten PITC-billed WAPDA companies and K-Electric, which runs Karachi on its own account-number system. K-Electric confirmed the tie-up in its own collaboration announcement with Easypaisa, so Karachi users get the same in-app route as the rest of the country.
| Distribution company | Region | What Easypaisa asks for |
|---|---|---|
| LESCO | Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura | 14-digit reference number |
| MEPCO | Multan and south Punjab | 14-digit reference number |
| FESCO | Faisalabad region | 14-digit reference number |
| IESCO | Islamabad, Rawalpindi | 14-digit reference number |
| GEPCO | Gujranwala region | 14-digit reference number |
| PESCO | Khyber Pakhtunkhwa | 14-digit reference number |
| HESCO | Hyderabad region | 14-digit reference number |
| SEPCO | Sukkur region | 14-digit reference number |
| QESCO | Balochistan | 14-digit reference number |
| TESCO | Tribal districts | 14-digit reference number |
| K-Electric | Karachi | Account number from the KE bill |
The reference number is the string of boxes at the top-left of a WAPDA bill, usually ending in a U or an R. K-Electric prints an account number on its bill instead. If your bill is missing and you don’t have the number saved, our guide on checking a bill without the reference number covers every way to recover it before you pay.
Method 1: Pay on the Easypaisa app
This is the route most people use, and the one Easypaisa keeps most up to date. Make sure your wallet has enough balance first, either from a linked bank/card top-up or cash loaded at a retailer.
- Open the Easypaisa app and sign in. On the home screen, tap Bill Payment.
- Choose Electricity as the bill category.
- Select your distribution company from the list (LESCO, MEPCO, K-Electric, and so on). Pick the exact one that prints your bill; the wrong company will simply not find your account.
- Enter your 14-digit reference number (or your K-Electric account number). Type it carefully; a single wrong digit either pulls up a stranger’s bill or returns nothing.
- The app fetches your current bill and shows the amount, the due date, and usually the “payable after due date” figure. Confirm this matches the paper or PDF bill in front of you.
- Tap Pay and enter your Easypaisa PIN to authorise.
- You’ll see a success screen with a Transaction ID (TID), and a confirmation SMS lands on your number. That’s your receipt.
A few practical notes. The app shows both the “payable within due date” and the higher after-due-date amount, and it pays whichever is current on the day. If you’re already past the deadline, it will show the surcharged figure, which is normal; our page on paying a bill after the due date explains how that surcharge is worked out. And once you’ve paid a connection once, save it as a recurring/saved biller so next month you skip straight to the amount.
Method 2: Pay at an Easypaisa shop
If you don’t use the app, an Easypaisa retailer is the offline equivalent, and there are green-signboard outlets in almost every market. This is also the route for anyone paying in cash.
- Take your bill (or just the 14-digit reference number) and cash to any Easypaisa shop.
- Tell the retailer you want to pay an electricity bill, and give the reference number and your DISCO.
- The retailer keys it in, and the live bill amount appears on their screen. Ask them to confirm the amount and the connection name out loud before you hand over money, so you know it’s your bill.
- Pay the cash and collect the printed receipt. Keep it until the payment shows as cleared.
One thing to check at the counter: a retailer may add a small handling fee on top of the bill. Ask before you pay so there are no surprises, and always leave with the printed slip.
Method 3: Pay over USSD (basic phone, no internet)
Easypaisa also has a USSD menu you reach by dialling a short code, which lets you pay without a smartphone or data. The code depends on your network: on a Telenor SIM it’s *786#, and on Jazz, Zong or Ufone it’s usually *2262#. From the menu you pick Bill Payment, then Electricity, then your company, and enter the reference number.
Be aware that USSD availability depends on your mobile network and SIM, and the menu path can shift, so this route is less reliable than the app. If the code doesn’t load a menu on your SIM, don’t force it: use the app or walk into an Easypaisa shop instead. For a normal monthly bill, the app is faster anyway.
Easypaisa electricity bill payment fees and charges
Here is the honest version, because the internet is full of confident numbers on this. Easypaisa’s own Schedule of Bank Charges for July–December 2026 runs utility bills on a fair-usage model: the first three bill payments each month are free, and after that a small per-transaction fee applies (the current schedule shows Rs 20 for the fourth through ninth bill of the month, and Rs 30 from the tenth). Because most households clear a single electricity bill a month, that first-three-free window means the typical user still pays nothing on the app, as of August 2026.
Wherever your count lands, the app shows the exact charge on the confirmation screen before you approve, so treat that line as the source of truth: whatever sits next to “service charges” or “fee” just before you tap Pay is what you’ll be billed. At an Easypaisa shop the picture is different: a retailer may add a small counter handling fee, which is on the retailer, not on the bill.
| Where you pay | What to expect on charges |
|---|---|
| Easypaisa app | First 3 bill payments each month are free; beyond that a small per-transaction fee applies (Rs 20 for bills 4–9, Rs 30 from bill 10, per the Jul–Dec 2026 schedule). The exact charge is shown on the confirmation screen before you approve. |
| Easypaisa shop / retailer | Bill amount as shown, sometimes plus a small counter handling fee. Ask first. |
| USSD (*786#) | Same billing as the app; standard network/USSD session rules apply. |
What the wallet does not change is the bill itself. Easypaisa passes the exact amount the DISCO’s system generates, taxes and surcharges included. If your bill looks higher than you expected, the answer is in the tariff, not the wallet: see how the per-unit price is built up and what the taxes and surcharges on your bill actually are.
How much can you pay in one go: limits
Easypaisa wallets run on account levels set under State Bank branchless-banking rules, and your limit depends on which level your account has reached. A basic, CNIC-verified account has a lower daily and monthly ceiling; completing full (biometric) verification raises it substantially. A normal household electricity bill sits comfortably inside a standard verified account’s limits, so most people never bump into a cap.
Where it can bite is a very large bill, a detection bill or several months paid at once, which may exceed your daily transaction limit. If that happens you have three options: split the payment across days if the due date allows, complete your account upgrade to raise the limit, or pay a large lump at a retailer or bank counter. To see your own exact figures, open the app and check the limits section under your profile; the number shown there is the one that counts. If the bill is large because it’s overdue or a detection charge, our guides on paying after the due date and on requesting installments are the better first stop.
Your receipt and confirmation
After a successful payment you get two things: an on-screen success message with a Transaction ID, and a confirmation SMS to your registered number. Both carry the amount, the date and the TID. Save at least one of them.
Do not expect your DISCO’s own portal to flip to “paid” instantly. Bank and wallet payments are passed to the distribution company in batches, so the status usually updates within a few hours, and can take up to 24 hours at busy times near month-end. That lag is normal and is not a sign the payment failed. As long as the money left your wallet and you have the TID, the payment is done from your side.
Paid but the bill still shows unpaid? Do this
This is the situation that worries people, and it almost always resolves on its own. Work through it in order:
- Check that the money actually left your wallet. Open Easypaisa → transaction history. If you see the payment with a TID, it went through. If there’s no such entry and no confirmation SMS, the payment did not complete: your balance is intact and you can simply try again.
- Give it time. If the wallet shows the payment but the DISCO portal still says unpaid, wait out the normal update window (a few hours, up to 24). Re-check the bill on your DISCO’s page after that.
- Keep your proof ready. Screenshot the Easypaisa receipt and note the TID, date and amount. This is all any agent will ask for.
- If it’s still unpaid after 24 hours, contact Easypaisa support and quote the TID: dial 042-111-003-737 (or 3737 from a Telenor SIM). They can confirm the payment status against the biller.
- In parallel, contact your DISCO if a due date is looming, so a payment stuck in transit isn’t treated as a default. The verified numbers are in our DISCO complaint and helpline directory.
One firm rule throughout: never pay a second time to “make it go through” until you’ve confirmed in your transaction history that the first attempt failed. Paying twice against a valid TID means chasing a refund, which is far slower than waiting out the update window.
Easypaisa or JazzCash: does it matter?
For paying an electricity bill, the two wallets are close to identical. Both carry every WAPDA DISCO and K-Electric, both fetch your live bill from the same 14-digit reference number, both hand you a transaction ID, and both pass the exact DISCO amount with no markup on the bill. The right choice is usually just whichever wallet you already have money in. If you’d rather use the other one, the steps map almost one-to-one to our JazzCash electricity bill payment guide.
Whichever you pick, save the connection as a biller after the first payment, and turn on the DISCO’s SMS or e-bill alerts so you always know the amount and due date before the wallet even opens.
A cleaner monthly routine
Two minutes of setup ends the last-minute scramble:
- Save the biller in Easypaisa after your first payment so the reference number is stored for next month.
- Pay a few days early. The wallet is available 24/7, so there’s no reason to hit the deadline; paying early sidesteps the late-payment surcharge entirely.
- Keep one receipt per month in a phone folder. If a status ever lags, you’re not hunting for a TID.
- Know your DISCO’s own channel too. Every distribution company has a payment and check page of its own, for example LESCO, MEPCO and IESCO, and the full set sits on the all-DISCOs hub.

FAQs
Is there a fee for paying electricity bills on Easypaisa?
On the Easypaisa app, the first three utility bill payments each month are free under the current July–December 2026 Schedule of Bank Charges, so a household paying a single electricity bill usually pays nothing. Beyond three bills in a month a small per-transaction fee applies (Rs 20 for the fourth to ninth, Rs 30 from the tenth). Either way, the exact charge is shown on the confirmation screen before you approve, so read that line before tapping Pay. At an Easypaisa shop, a retailer may add a small counter handling fee, so ask before paying cash.
Can I pay a K-Electric bill through Easypaisa?
Yes. K-Electric is a supported biller on Easypaisa, confirmed by K-Electric’s own collaboration announcement with the wallet. In the app, tap Bill Payment, choose Electricity, select K-Electric, and enter the account number printed on your KE bill instead of a WAPDA-style reference number. The rest of the flow is the same: verify the amount and confirm with your PIN.
I paid on Easypaisa but the bill still shows unpaid. What should I do?
First check your Easypaisa transaction history: if the payment is there with a Transaction ID, it went through, and the money simply hasn’t reflected on the DISCO portal yet. Wallet payments update on the distribution company’s side within a few hours and sometimes up to 24 hours, so wait that out and re-check. If it’s still unpaid after 24 hours, contact Easypaisa on 042-111-003-737 (or 3737 from a Telenor SIM) with your Transaction ID, and contact your DISCO if a due date is near. Never pay a second time until you’ve confirmed the first attempt actually failed.
Can I pay an electricity bill on Easypaisa without an account?
Yes, through an Easypaisa retailer. Take your reference number and cash to any Easypaisa shop, and the retailer pays the bill from their own account and hands you a printed receipt. You do not need your own wallet for this. To pay from the app or over USSD yourself, though, you do need an Easypaisa account.
How much can I pay in a single Easypaisa transaction?
It depends on your account level. A standard CNIC-verified account has a daily and monthly ceiling that comfortably covers a normal household bill, while a fully upgraded (biometric-verified) account has higher limits. A very large or detection bill may exceed your daily limit, in which case you can split it across days, upgrade your account, or pay at a retailer or bank counter. Your exact limits are shown in the app under your profile’s limits section.
Do I need internet to pay my bill on Easypaisa?
Not necessarily. The app needs a data or Wi-Fi connection, but you can also dial the Easypaisa USSD menu on a basic phone with no internet (786# on a Telenor SIM, usually 2262# on Jazz, Zong or Ufone), or pay cash at an Easypaisa shop. USSD availability varies by network and SIM, so if the menu doesn’t load, the app or a retailer is the reliable fallback.
